Cocoa Prices Drop 34%, Lindt Sees 7.5% Sales Volume Decline

Cocoa prices have decreased to $5,327 per metric ton, down 34% over the past year after reaching nearly $12,000 at the end of 2024. Despite this price easing, Lindt (LDSVF) reported an 11.8% increase in prices leading to a 7.5% drop in chocolate sales volumes during the first half of the year. Barry Callebaut, the largest chocolate supplier, noted a 4.4% decline in consumer purchases but a 5.7% increase in overall sales volumes. The ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and inflation continue to challenge demand, affecting consumer sentiment and industry earnings.
