Trump Offers Dana White Press Secretary Role Amid White House Shake-Up

U.S. President Donald Trump offered UFC President and CEO Dana White the job of press secretary, according to a post on Truth Social. Trump extended the offer to White's assistants as well and described White as a potential press secretary "like none other." White posted an Instagram story showing himself at the White House press secretary lectern with the caption "On to the next chapter." It is unclear if White has accepted the position or if his post is in response to Trump's message. The current press secretary Katie Zacharia left the role in October after only one briefing. This offer follows a recent White House staff change where Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller was promoted to Chief of Staff, succeeding Susie Wiles. Trump's offer to White occurs amid political shifts after Democrats won majority control in Congress in the 2026 midterm elections. White and Trump have a longstanding friendship dating back to Trump's 2016 campaign, with White publicly supporting Trump and hosting a UFC event at the White House in June 2026 for Trump's 80th birthday. This development matters as it reflects unusual personnel decisions and political realignments within the White House communications team.
