Water Companies Seek £3.4bn Bill Increase for Customers in England
Water companies in England and Wales have been provisionally allowed to raise customer bills by an additional £3.4 billion to address infrastructure and environmental pressures. Nearly one-third of this funding is aimed at maintaining water services. Five water companies, including Severn Trent Water and Thames Water, will see price increases ranging from £1 to £43 during the 2027/28 and 2029/30 financial years. The regulatory body, Ofwat, will finalize decisions on these increases after a public consultation ending in December, which has implications for customers and investment in necessary infrastructure improvements.
