Newark Liberty Airport: 60 Flights Canceled After Equipment Outage

Flight disruptions at Newark Liberty International Airport eased on Tuesday, following a fiber cable break that impacted air traffic control. As of 7:10 a.m. ET, 60 flights were canceled, about 5% of Newark's schedule, significantly down from more than 600 canceled the previous day. At Philadelphia International Airport, around 30 flights, or 2% of its schedule, were also canceled. The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that the issue arose from a fiber-optic line cut by a NJ Transit construction crew, affecting key air traffic control systems.
