Chipotle (CMG) Expands Internationally with New Ventures in 2026

Chipotle Mexican Grill (NYSE: CMG) opened its first restaurant in Asia on September 2, 2026, in Seoul through a joint venture with Sangmidang Holdings. The company also entered Mexico for the first time in July 2026, partnering with Alsea, and plans additional locations in both regions for 2027. Chipotle currently operates over 80 locations in Canada, 20 in the U.K., six in France, and two in Germany. This expansion strategy aims to increase international recognition and potentially turn overseas restaurants into a substantial revenue source for the company, which is crucial as it faces softer same-store sales domestically.
