John Bolton Agrees to Plead Guilty, Faces $2.25M Fine

Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has agreed to plead guilty to retaining classified information in a private diary. As part of a plea deal, he faces a potential sentence of up to 60 months in prison and a fine of $2.25 million. Bolton was indicted by a federal grand jury on eight counts of transmitting national defense information and 10 counts of retention of national defense information. The indictment states that he shared over a thousand pages of classified daily activities with unauthorized individuals, identified as his wife and daughter, who lacked security clearances.
