Home Heating Oil Prices Jump £98.78 (29%) in Three Weeks

The average cost of 500 litres of home heating oil in Northern Ireland increased from £346.59 to £445.37, a rise of £98.78 (29%) over three weeks. This price surge is attributed to geopolitical tensions, particularly the escalation of fighting between the US and Iran. Two-thirds of Northern Ireland households rely on home heating oil. Prices had previously peaked at £612.37 in April but had dropped to £346.59 earlier this month before this latest increase. This matters for ordinary households as many are affected by rising heating costs leading into winter.
