Fraunhofer's Project Aims for 70% Recyclable Paper Packaging by 2030

Fraunhofer, Hermann Ultraschall, and Henkel are collaborating on the PAPURE project, established in 2023, which focuses on developing a laser-based sealing technology for paper packaging without adhesives. In accordance with new regulations, 70% of all packaging must be recyclable by 2030, increasing to 80% by 2038. The project's goal is to address issues with non-recyclable adhesives, which can damage recycling processes. This technology may help companies comply with tightened regulations on packaging waste and improve recycling rates for paper products, impacting manufacturers and consumers alike.
